Variety of lumber for construction
Various lumber, regardless of the type of construction, are one of the most popular types of building materials. The modern assortment is represented by many types that are actively used in many works. Boards, as well as beams created from different types of wood, are used in the construction or decoration of private and commercial buildings.
In general, such materials are created in the process of sawing logs, which are further divided into the necessary segments and processed depending on specific requirements. The process uses a variety of machines and tools. Often, circular saw and band saw systems, as well as other specific equipment, become the basis of woodworking factories. It is noteworthy that regardless of whether coniferous or hardwood is processed, production is practically waste-free: the resulting sawdust serves as the basis for MDF, chipboard, and is also sold for domestic needs.
Varieties of materials
Depending on the tree species and the technologies used in processing, there are planed, edged and unedged types. This indicator helps to determine the quality of boards or beams when buying, and the type also directly affects the price. Among the most relevant lumber in modern construction, there are such classes:
- edged boards and beams – square or rectangular materials, actively used in many types of construction, a notable feature is the special structure achieved during processing;
- planed boards and beams – a more expensive option due to additional grinding, the price almost always depends on the level of humidity (the higher it is, the cheaper the material);
- bars – have a thickness of up to 100 mm and in most cases are used in the creation of furniture, frames, battens, decking and light buildings.
As mentioned earlier, residues from production can become the basis for the production of pressed boards and lining, which is often used in wall cladding, decoration and other construction work.
For facade cladding, the best lumber is larch planken.
For ease of purchase and transportation, production takes into account such an indicator as lumber delivery. Often, segments of standard sizes are produced, however, upon purchase, they can be additionally sawn, depending on the needs of the buyer.
